Tasha & Wes Hamilton

MARRIED OCTOBER 10, 2020

THE PROPOSAL

How did Wes pop the question?

On the 18th hole. Wes proposed on a trip to South Carolina, during a round of golf. We were just finishing and going to take a picture on the final hole, when he got down on one knee. I thought he had tripped, and I told him to get up for the picture. It wasn’t until I realized that he was holding a ring, when I laughed hysterically in shock. I don’t remember anything he said, but, of course I said “Yes!”.

THE PLANNING

What made you choose St. Marys Weddings as your wedding venue?

Atmosphere and reputation. We were looking for a rustic, outdoor vibe for a wedding venue and as soon as we saw the Hideaway, we fell in love. The detail of the wood beams in the space stood out to me right away. We also both have a mutual love of golf, and since the venue is situated right on gorgeous golf grounds, it had so much more to offer. The Hideaway had a beautiful, modern aesthetic that made it feel different from most golf course banquet spaces, so it was the best of both worlds. Plus, a friend of mine had gotten married there a few years back, and she spoke so highly of her experience.

What was it like working with our preferred decorator and florist?

Seamless. We had the privilege of working with SMGCC’s A-Team of preferred vendors - Above & Beyond Event Design for our decor and Lyric Flowers for our florals. When we started wedding planning, I had a distinct rustic vision in place, but as time went on, that vision evolved into more of a boho vibe, and Kim handled all the changes with such ease. Lanny and Jay of Lyric flowers elevated the whole look with loads of greenery, pampas grass, and soft-hued floral arrangements.

Head Table Decor

Who did your photos?

Natalie Rose. She’s so talented, easy to work with, and she gave the best direction when we needed it.

Do you recommend hiring a videographer?

1000%. All couples should hire a videographer. It’s such an amazing investment to be able to relive your wedding day on your anniversary each year, or any day for that matter! We used Tuan Lamb of Atomic Pixel, and we cannot say enough great things about him.

THE BIG DAY

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Our ceremony. It felt SO magical. Walking down the aisle towards Wes, while carrying our daughter (who was 10 months old at the time), was a dream come true. And then recessing down the aisle together as a family, all sharing the same last name, was everything I imagined it would be.

How did the SMGCC team help in ensuring your day was unforgettable?

Adaptability. Their team was amazing at rolling with changes, and they made our day feel so easy! We had to plan and have our wedding in the height of the pandemic, with several restrictions, and SMGCC adapted fairly through it all. From the day-of coordinator, to the service staff, to the chefs, everyone catered to us for the entire day and kept us very organized. I loved being a part of planning the details, but having the team at SMGCC there to coordinate everything made the entire process feel smooth and relaxed. Thank you SMGCC for all that you did to make our day memorable!
